Senator Seyarto recently addressed SB 799, a bill concerning unemployment benefits for employees on strike. In his statement, he expressed concerns about the potential implications of the legislation.

He stated, "SB 799 is not only a misguided policy that will ultimately harm California’s economy but it also sends the wrong message to both workers and employers." Senator Seyarto emphasized the financial impact, arguing that "this bill would make California one of only three states in the nation to offer unemployment benefits to striking workers," which could strain resources intended for those genuinely unemployed.

The senator further elaborated on his stance by highlighting potential consequences: "At a time when we should be focusing on getting people back to work and growing our economy, this bill does just the opposite."

He concluded with a call for reconsideration: "I urge my colleagues to think carefully about what kind of precedent this sets and who really stands to benefit from this policy."
