SB 1096, a bill mandating transparent labeling on physical mail solicitations, has been signed into law. The new legislation requires that all mail solicitations clearly state on the outside of the envelope that it is a solicitation and that recipients are not obligated to make any payment or take any action in response.

"This bill is an important fix for consumer protection," said a spokesperson. The legislation aims to address growing concerns over mail solicitations resembling bills or official state correspondence, which have confused many consumers. This issue has particularly impacted seniors, who are more susceptible to falling for mail scams and inadvertently making unnecessary payments.

The bill received bipartisan support and passed through both the Senate and Assembly without opposition.

"Thank you for this opportunity to be of service," added the spokesperson.
