As 2023 concludes, California State Senator highlighted key accomplishments and ongoing efforts to serve the 32nd District. The year saw eight bills signed into law, addressing various issues from the fentanyl epidemic to property tax exemptions.
Among the legislative achievements:
- SB 19 established the California Fentanyl Task Force.
- SB 67 enrolled state departments in ODMAP for tracking overdose patterns.
- SB 82 set universal document standards for Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption eligibility.
- SB 86 expanded Marsy's Law by creating a comprehensive website for crime victims.
- SB 259 mandated state agencies to post legislative reports online.
- SB 520 clarified property tax exemptions for homeowners in care facilities.
- SB 602, co-authored with Sen. Archuleta, extended the duration of Trespass Letter requests from one year to three years and allowed electronic submissions.
- SB 613 exempted small local jurisdictions from organic waste recycling requirements.
In addition to legislative work, over $4 million was secured for district projects. The senator's team attended more than 590 community events and meetings, assisted over 440 constituent cases, and awarded more than 2,600 certificates and resolutions.
