City of Perris issued the following announcement on Oct. 28.
The City of Perris is seeking community input on two local parks, as they apply for Prop 68 Statewide Program Grant Funds.
City Staff from the Community Services Department has created surveys for input on Foss Field and Copper Creek Park in hopes to secure funding for future upgrades, renovations and improvements.
The City of Perris is familiar with Prop 68 after being awarded $8.5 million in February 2020 for Enchanted Hills Park. Under Proposition 68, the California Department of Parks and Recreation, Office of Grants and Local Services, was authorized to allocate more than $254 million of Statewide Park Program (SPP) competitive grant funding to create new parks and expand or renovate an existing park.
The surveys for the two new parks will follow a similar process, with the first step being geared toward community input. In addition to the surveys, City staff is looking for other ways to engage the community for Foss Field and Copper Creek, beginning with a YAC outreach program on Saturday, October 31 via Zoom. Residents can register for this zoom call and provide input for the parks, and even enter a raffle for a Nintendo Switch.
The City of Perris will also receive feedback from the community on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 outside the Bob Glass Gymnasium, on Thursday, November 5, 2020 during the previously announced Parks and Recreation Master Plan community meeting via Zoom, on site at Copper Creek on Thursday, November 12, 2020, and on site at Foss Field on Friday, November 13, 2020.
The Foss Field and Copper Creek Surveys will remain available until mid-November 2020. For more information, contact the Community Services Department.
