Ken Calvert, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 41st District since 1993, recently addressed several issues through his social media platform. Born in Corona, California in 1953 and a graduate of San Diego State University, Calvert has been vocal about his priorities and initiatives affecting taxpayers and disaster victims.
On March 6, 2025, Calvert expressed concern over potential tax increases for his constituents if the 2017 tax cuts are not extended. He stated that one of his top priorities is "protecting the taxpayers I represent from the massive tax increase they are facing if we don’t extend the 2017 tax cuts." He also proposed improvements to these cuts by suggesting that tips be exempt from federal income taxes and expanding the SALT deduction.
Later that day, Calvert advised individuals on how to safeguard themselves during the current tax-filing season. His message was succinct: " Protect yourself this tax-filing season "
In another post on March 6, Calvert discussed efforts to aid wildfire victims in Los Angeles. He mentioned co-leading a bipartisan letter with Rep. Zoe Lofgren to request an extension from FEMA for applying for federal disaster assistance. He emphasized their commitment by stating: "We must continue to support those impacted by this tragedy."
