Rep. Ken Calvert, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 41st District, has recently shared his views on significant legislative matters through a series of tweets. Calvert, who has been in office since 1993, is addressing concerns about government operations and support for military personnel.

On March 8, 2025, Rep. Ken Calvert highlighted the importance of a new bill designed to prevent a government shutdown while enhancing defense investments. He emphasized that the bill includes “the largest pay raise for junior enlisted troops in over 40 years.” He warned that “any vote against the bill is not only a vote to deny our troops this pay raise, it’s a vote to withhold their pay altogether.”

Two days later, on March 10, 2025, Calvert refuted claims regarding the Continuing Resolution (CR) and its impact on veterans’ care. He stated unequivocally that “this is simply not true,” asserting that the CR includes “a $6 billion increase for the Toxic Exposures Fund,” which he claims ensures continued care and resources for veterans.

Later on March 10, Calvert addressed potential consequences of voting against the Continuing Resolution set for consideration. He argued that “anyone voting ‘NO’ on the Continuing Resolution tomorrow is voting to shutdown the government,” leading to furloughs of federal workers and closures of National Parks. He expressed confidence in his constituents’ preferences by stating these are not outcomes they elected him to pursue.
