Rep. Ken Calvert, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 41st District since 1993, shared his views on recent political and state developments through a series of tweets on May 14, 2025.

In one post, Calvert criticized Democrats in Congress, accusing them of misleading the public about President Biden’s condition and changes to Medicaid. “The same Democrats in Congress who lied to Americans about President Biden’s condition are now lying to Americans about changes to Medicaid,” he stated.

Later that day, Calvert addressed issues concerning California’s energy policies in another tweet. He expressed disapproval of Governor Newsom’s expansion of a state program impacting energy producers, which he claims leads to higher gas prices. He noted, “Gov. Newsom is expanding a CA program that imposes costs on energy producers and results in our state having the highest gas prices in the US.” Furthermore, he criticized plans to allocate $1 billion annually from these fees towards California’s high-speed rail project.

In addition to his political commentary, Calvert announced his role as chair during a Defense Appropriations Subcommittee hearing with Navy and Marine Corps leaders. He mentioned, “I am chairing a Defense Appropriations Subcommittee hearing today with our Navy and Marine Corps leaders,” expressing anticipation for discussions on their contributions to national security.

Ken Calvert was born in Corona, California in 1953 and has lived there throughout his life. A graduate of San Diego State University with a BA degree obtained in 1975, Calvert has been serving as an influential voice for his district for over three decades.
